Dickie Bows and Petticoats Club Sponsor announcement

In January 2024, I created a wonderful community group called The Dickie Bows and Petticoats Club. A daytime cabaret club for sassy seniors and friends. The idea came to me after many years of performing in my vintage persona for all kinds of organisations and homes where our 'golden' community are, and realising that even they enjoy some very cheeky entertainment. The other side to my life is in the cabaret world - essentially, entertainment for adults with risque shows that include burlesque, drag and circus. So The Dickie Bows and Petticoats Club is essentially a mash up of the two worlds, with a low cost ticket, subsidised by fundraising, and entirely run with volunteers (including myself). A night out in the daytime for our older generation looking for something more than just a natter over a cup of tea. There's a show (yes, with burlesque, drag and circus), a game of Bingo, afternoon tea from 19fourteas tearoom, and plenty of sing-a-long and laughs.

I officially formed a committee so that the club could be recognised as a not-for-profit community group, and started fundrasing. This quickly caught the attention of local buisness Promedica 24 who officially signed up as major sponsor in Ocotber 2024. Here's more about them

Considering Care Options: Early Research Matters

By Chris White-Smith at Promedica24 (West Sussex) Live-in care services

At some point, the need for care, whether for ourselves or loved ones, may

become reality. Accidents, or deteriorating health conditions can swiftly

impact care requirements, and become a daunting task in finding suitable

care. Yet, navigating this phase with confidence, is achievable through some

research and understanding the care options in West Sussex.

The Importance of Early Research

The significance of conducting early research cannot be overstated. With the ageing

population, demand for social care services continues to increase, but we can take

measures in planning for potential future needs. Exploring and assessing various

care providers and the care services they offer, provides advanced knowledge to

confidently select the most suitable option for oneself or a family member, ensuring

peace of mind and quality care, when it’s needed most.

Putting A Face to the Name

Looking at care options in West Sussex ahead of time could establish a relationship

with potential care providers, putting a face to the name. Through introductory

meetings, phone calls, or email exchanges, you can ascertain compatibility with a

prospective care provider. As someone who is readily available for these

conversations, I am equipped with a wealth of information to share.

Building these relationships early has value. It helps build a sense of trust between

the care provider, the prospective client, and their family, which is so important. By

investing time in getting to know each other, we lay the foundation for a partnership

grounded in mutual respect and understanding.

The Case for Short Notice Care

Life is unpredictable, and emergencies can happen when we least expect them, so

having a plan in place can make all the difference. The ability to provide care at short

notice is an important consideration.

At Promedica24 West Sussex, we can deliver safe but swift solutions. After

conducting a brief but thorough care assessment to ascertain individual needs, we

can mobilise support within 24-48 hours.

Explore Respite Care

For the vast number of voluntary carers out there, regular breaks are crucial to their

wellbeing. Care providers offering respite live-in care can help, providing that

temporary relief with support for a limited number of days or weeks, allowing time for

family to enjoy a break or even a trip abroad.

At Promedica24 West Sussex, we are proud to have helped many clients take

breaks to focus on themselves and recharge the batteries.

Don’t Be Afraid to Reach Out

Proactively considering available care options is extremely valuable. Changing care

needs can be overwhelming. Don’t hesitate to take the first step.
